How did you decide to begin painting wedding maps?
I was helping a friend with her wedding invitations and asked her if they had ever thought of doing a map of locations since they were having a destination wedding. The options that her wedding planner had suggested were priced around $1000. That's when I figured I would try my hand at creating affordable and customizable maps for brides.
Where do you find your inspiration?
Most of my inspiration comes from the areas where the events take place. I research the areas and scenes that make up the region. Buildings on a map are great, but I think the details are what make my maps special: whether it be the shrimp boat and palm trees in Charleston or monuments in our Nation's Capital.
What's your creative process?
My process is a product of my background in Fine Arts and Interior Design. I start with the buildings, I try to draw them as accurately and let the watercolor add personality.
What's one sentence to describe your work?
Charming watercolor wedding maps for brides on a budget.
How long have you been painting?
My first official painting class was in high school, but I've been drawing and painting since I can remember.
In 5 years, where would you like to be with your painting?
I would like to build my portfolio for different locations as well as different events, not just weddings.
In your spare time, what do you like to do?
I like to craft, visit museums and play with my dog, Henry.
It started off as a site where I could explain how I made crafts and then I started incorporating coupon tips as well as money saving ideas. It's a creative outlet of sorts.
What makes you smile?
Spring in DC and my sweet (and funny!) boyfriend.

Those maps are great! Such a great option for those who can't spend thousands on their invites, which is most people. :)
