guest blogger: meghan sweet

My amazing rafiki (swahili for friend), Meghan, who I have talked about before here, has been on a life changing journey this past year. She has started down a path to make her passions her everyday job by quitting the corporate grind and becoming a manager at Lululemon, as well as making a priority to learn & grow both personally and spiritually. Your can find her blog, and her inspiring posts on Make Life Sweet.

Yesterday was her 27th birthday, and she wrote this beautiful reflection on the day and her journey. I hope to have Meghan post more here on the blog because she truly is such an inspiration to anyone looking to reach their full potential or begin a journey that they otherwise may not venture down to follow their heart. Meghan never ceases to inspire me, encourage me and support me 110% no matter what, and for that I am eternally grateful she is in my life. Thank you, Meghan!

Here is her birthday reflection:

Today is my birthday and of course it has me reflecting on the past year. From my last birthday until now I can honestly say I’ve become the Meghan I want to be. I truly love and like myself.
This morning I read a quote:

“When you’re Happy for No Reason, you bring happiness to your outer experiences rather than trying to extract happiness from them. You don’t need to manipulate the world around you to try to make yourself happy. You live from happiness, rather than for happiness.”  - Marci Shimoff

Last birth year was about becoming the person I wanted to be, becoming someone who loves all parts of themselves, adding elements to become a better person and removing barriers that kept me from my full potential. I was a year of preparation. While the cultivation never ends and there is a time to reap and and time to sow, the garden I have planted has produced some beautiful flowers in my life. The beauty of it is, the journey never ends. Now that the purpose is clear and goals have been set, I remove new weeds that pop up and delight in turning over new crops with each season.

What I look forward to this year and for years to come is sharing the fruits of my labor with others, because my garden is abundant and I have more than I could ever ask for. So today it’s not just Happy Birthday its Happy for No Reason!
