inspiration from the ngong hils

Since watching it from a projector onto our concrete wall in Dodoma, I've had a love affair with the movie, Out of Africa, and the menswear outfits  Meryl Streep wore.

The opening lines of the movie make me long for the days in Tanzania, and make me dream of soft spring mornings:

"I had a farm in Africa at the foot of the Ngong Hills. The Equator runs across these highlands, a hundred miles to the north, and the farm lay at an altitude of over six thousand feet. In the day-time you felt that you had got high up; near to the sun, but the early mornings and evenings were limpid and restful, and the nights were cold."

Today's post, takes inspiration from Meryl Streep's delicate utilitarian outfits in the movie, and translates them into something we can all get behind with spring upon us.

  1. Yes! I saw that movie for the first time this past summer and watched it two nights in a row. I wish I'd been able to grow up watching it (think of all the years I've missed having that as outfit inspiration!).
