wise words for wednesday

While celebrating with my friends & family and spending time together last week during the holidays, I found myself continuously trying to not to worry about what lie ahead or behind me in order to make that very moment with those people count most. I hope you find inspiration in this week's wise words! Happy Wednesday!!!

geometry rules

It seems that geometric patterns are everywhere these days and I'm a sucker for them. Clean lines, bold colors and beautiful patterns - How could you not be drawn to them? These are just a a few of my favorites that would make awesome gifts for those on your shopping list this year.

family of four

I'm pleased to announce that we will become a family of four in just two weeks! If you recall in my post a few weeks ago, that we were in a debate whether or not to grow our family to include another canine. I'm really happy to say that after a lot of thinking, talking and advice gathering, we've decided to take the leap. Thank you for all of your encouraging comments, emails, texts and phone calls!

Jack's brother, actual biological brother(!) was born on 10/11/12, and we'll be picking him up just in time for Christmas! Oh, and incase you were wondering, he's a yorkie-poo...aww..that face!

Now that we've made the tough decision, we need some help with names -here's our list thus far:

Wally
Charlie
Champ
Ruxion

holiday card fun

I know it's not even Thanksgiving yet, but in the world of this crazy Type A soul I've got my holiday card list ready and my cards on order...and I may or may not have already bought stamps. It's no secret that I love paper, but I'm truly obsessed with holiday cards. I run home every day from December 1st until New Years eager to rip open and oogle over the latest holiday cards in my mailbox.

For those of you who are normal, here is the answer to your dreams of sending a card design you love this year. Polka Dot Design has a BEAUTIFUL selection of designs this year and just to wet your appetite, here are a few of my favorites. When you place your order, don't forget to use SIMPLESURBER30 for a 30% discount!

PS - I'm not sharing our holiday card (from Polka Dot Design!), because some of you will be getting it in your mailbox, but I promise I will closer to the holidays!

thanksgiving simplicity

Please forgive me for being MIA for the last...ohh I don't know...10 + days. Wow - that's the longest I've been away from the blog in over a year. It wasn't without good reason, I promise. Las Vegas turned out to be more work than I had dreamed, and by the time I made it back to my room at the end of the day it was all that I could do to flop into bed. So, I took the last 5 days to fully reenergize myself and get back on my normal schedule.

In honor of this week's festivities, I wanted to share with you an outfit idea - a never-fail shift in rich purple and great booties will easily carry you from dinner with Grandma to your hometown watering hole to catch-up with old friends!

donate for NYC

The company that my Dad has worked for since before I was born, Klockner Pentaplast of America,  is pulling together resources to help families at P.S. 721-K Roy Campanella High School in Brooklyn, NY. The school helps students with special needs with vocational job training, and while the school is still standing, the students have been devastated by Sandy, and another storm is on its way this week.

A second tractor trailer (the first is almost full!) will be parked in Ruckersville, VA at the Wal-Mart parking lot until Saturday, November 10th taking donations to deliver to the the school's families. If you live in the Charlottesville, VA area, they are taking donations for ANYTHING you can imagine, including cleaning supplies, tools, warm clothing, toiletries, etc.Volunteers will be working to take your donations from 9 AM to 7 PM.

If you don't live near Charlottesville, VA, but would like to help, please email KK Nolan (aka my Mom). Organizers are in the process of setting up an online donation method, and she can share with you the details.

Even though the images look on TV look okay and things are back to business as usual, there are still families who are without running water or electricity or even a roof over their head. Anything helps!

viva las vegas

I'm off today to Las Vegas bright and early this morning for 10 days for work. Woooh...it's a long time in the city of sin, but alas I'll be far from the strip on a photo shoot (eeek!). Hope you have a sparkling Tuesday and don't forget to vote!!!
